Meet Victoria

I have been busy lately trying to finish up all of the pieces I have started.  Victoria is finished and ready for her debut, but first let me tell you how the idea for Victoria came about.
On August 31 my friend Kinga Nichols at Crimson Frog Designs had a giveaway.  Kinga was giving away these beautiful boro glass beads by Sharayah Sheldon a friend of hers.

Aren't these just gorgeous

I did not get around to making a post on Wednesday, but this is what I was going to show on my bead table

Victoria in the making...

I finished Victoria today I started to ensemble her in the way that I have done other spiral necklaces, but then changed my mind (actually my Mom helped me change my mind).  Here is Victoria!

She is a bit Asymmetrical

I had enough of the boro glass beads and the accent beads to make a bracelet and two pairs of earrings.

I haven't decided on what I'm going to make with the other boro glass beads yet, I just like playing with them and I'm still drooling over them.  I still can not believe I was the lucky person that won these beautiful boro glass beads.  Thank you again to Kinga and Sharayah.

On another note I was contacted by Vente of Vintage Beads from Europe and asked if I would blog about her Vintage bead online store.  Of course I said yes and just the other day I received a package that contained these lovely beads.

I have several ideas of what I want to make with these lovelies.  I have one more project to finish and then I can play with the Vintage Beads from Europe!  Go visit Vente's  on-line store and check out all that she has to offer you just might find something you have been looking for or just can't do without.

I Heart Macro - My Sister's Yard

It's Sunday again and that means another I Heart Macro Sunday.  I was at my Sister's house this weekend and this morning I went out and walked around her yard and these are the pictures I took.

Isn't this cool looking?  Can you guess what it is?  I'm not going to tell you just yet, I want you to ponder on it for a little while.

I thought that this was a very interesting flower pod and so I just had to shoot it.

My sister has this huge Gardenia bush outside of her front door and it is full of blooms that smell so nice.
I love this shot of the beautiful blue sky! "Sweet home Alabama where the skies are so blue"

I had to play so I chose sepia tone for this one.

Okay have you guessed what the first photo is?  Okay, okay I'll tell you!  It is a hickory log with moss growing on it.  To me this photo looks like a rock cliff with juniper bushes growing on it.

I hope that you enjoyed looking at my shots as much as I enjoyed taking them.  If you would like to view more I Heart Macro shots head on over to Lori's Studio Waterstone blog and check out what others are I Heart Macroing!

I Heart Macro - Around the Back Yard

Another week has gone by and what a week this has been for me, it has not been a pleasant one.  I'm putting last week in the past and moving on to a brand new week and future!

I was walking around in the back yard and looking in the places that mostly get over looked, that is where you find the best photo ops, and this is what I discovered.

Moss growing in the flower pots

An insect exoskeleton

A Bumble Bee and a tiny Butterfly enjoying the last of the summer's flowers

My Fair Entries

For the bead soup blog party hop click here.

I would like to apologize for not posting since the 17th, but I had something serious happen on the 19th to cause me to be away.

The Alabama National Fair (why they call it that I do not know) is in October every year for as far back as I can remember.  For the last three years I have entered at least three necklaces in the Gem and Mineral Division.  The first year I entered I placed second and third. The second year I entered I place first, second, third, and my first place win also won Best of Fair. The same occurred for the third year.  Now either I am the only one entering items in the beading class of this division or the judges really think my stuff is worthy of the places.
This year I have three necklaces that I'm entering in the beading class of the gem and mineral division and two necklaces that I will be entering in the jewelry class of the crafts division.  Here are the pictures of my entries.

Agate, Moonstone, silver tone base metal filigree flower beads, 5mm and 4mm bi-cone beads and toggle clasp.

Carnelian 8mm and 4mm, Yellow Agate, copper bead caps, copper daisy spacers, 4mm copper round beads and copper toggle clasp

African Turquoise, Hematite roundels, 5mm silver tone base metal fluted round beads, lobster claw clasp.

The next two necklaces will be in the Crafts division Jewelry class.

 Dutch spiral

Cellini Spiral

The big surprise is when you go to the fair and walk around in the Creative Living Center looking at all of the many other entries in all of the different divisions and finally you come across your entries and they all have ribbons.  I don't get my hopes up cause surly I will not place every year, but it is still a thrill to see those ribbons.
