I Heart Macro - Pretty Flowers

It is Sunday and that means I Heart Macro yea!  This week I am posting pictures of some flowers that were entered into the fair this year.  I took these pictures the evening that I went to see how I did on my entries to the fair. There were several tables with all kinds of floral entries on them so I started taking pictures.  Here are some of my favorite ones.

A mini Hibiscus

I don't know what this one is, but it is pretty!

I don't know what this one is either, but I found it interesting.

An orchid

Another orchid

And one more orchid

A very pretty variegated red and white rose, that smelled as pretty as it looks!

A very pretty delicate yellow rose.

I hope you enjoyed viewing my macro shots as much as I enjoyed taking them.  If you want to see more I Heart Macro shots head on over to Lori's Studio Waterstone  blog and see what others are I heart macroing!

Beading Babes October Beading Project

In September Karyn White with Releases by Rufydoof started a beading circle and called it Beading Babes.  Well I was all for this, anything that will help me hone my beading skills I'm all for.  So I signed up, and I'm a member of the Beading Babes, yea!   Our first project was simple, but looks complicated, Camelot Cross bracelet designed by Carole Ohl.

The bracelet was constructed with 6mm bicone crystals, two different colors of 11/0 cylinder beads, and  two different colors of 11/0 seed beads.  The stitches used to construct the bracelet are peyote and herringbone.  Here is my bracelet:

I used olive green 6mm bicone crystals for the center, for the cross I used olive green 11/0 seed beads, for the sides I used pink 11/0 cylinder beads and gold 11/0 cylinder beads, for the corners I used pink 11/0 seed beads.  For the clasp I beaded a toggle out of the pink 11/0 seed beads and two of the olive green bicone crystals and the loop is peyote stitched with the pink and gold 11/0 cylinder beads.

I enjoyed making this bracelet project and I'm looking forward to the next Beading Babes project, this next time I will take progress pictures along the way to the finished piece.

Go to Karyn White's blog Releases by Rufydoof and check out what the others Beading Babes have created using Camelot Cross design.

How I Did At The Fair

This evening I went to check on how I did at the fair.  It was also food bank night and if you brought some canned food you get in for five dollars.  So I took my canned food and got my ticket and into the fair I went.
As I was making a bee line to the Creative Center I heard someone call my name.  I looked around and saw my Brother and Sister-in-law standing with a group of people, so I walked over to them.  The first thing my Brother said was you got ribbons.  I said hush you just ruined the surprise and he said but I did not tell you what they were.  I visited briefly and then went off to find my entries.

The Cellini Spiral got first place in the Craft Division Jewelry Class

The Yellow Agate and Carnelian Necklace placed second in the Gem and Mineral Division Beading Class

The Blue Agate and Moon Stone necklace placed third in the Gem and Mineral Division Beading Class

The African Turquoise necklace and the Dutch Spiral necklace did not place.

I'm so happy that three out of the five placed this year at the fair.  I look forward to October when the fair comes to town so I can enter some of my pieces.
My niece Belle entered a painting into the fair again this year and she got an Honorable Mention

As far as I'm concerned she is a first place winner with me!

I walked around and looked at a few things got me some fair food and some fudge and went home thrilled that I got placed.

Meet Victoria

I have been busy lately trying to finish up all of the pieces I have started.  Victoria is finished and ready for her debut, but first let me tell you how the idea for Victoria came about.
On August 31 my friend Kinga Nichols at Crimson Frog Designs had a giveaway.  Kinga was giving away these beautiful boro glass beads by Sharayah Sheldon a friend of hers.

Aren't these just gorgeous

I did not get around to making a post on Wednesday, but this is what I was going to show on my bead table

Victoria in the making...

I finished Victoria today I started to ensemble her in the way that I have done other spiral necklaces, but then changed my mind (actually my Mom helped me change my mind).  Here is Victoria!

She is a bit Asymmetrical

I had enough of the boro glass beads and the accent beads to make a bracelet and two pairs of earrings.

I haven't decided on what I'm going to make with the other boro glass beads yet, I just like playing with them and I'm still drooling over them.  I still can not believe I was the lucky person that won these beautiful boro glass beads.  Thank you again to Kinga and Sharayah.

On another note I was contacted by Vente of Vintage Beads from Europe and asked if I would blog about her Vintage bead online store.  Of course I said yes and just the other day I received a package that contained these lovely beads.

I have several ideas of what I want to make with these lovelies.  I have one more project to finish and then I can play with the Vintage Beads from Europe!  Go visit Vente's  on-line store and check out all that she has to offer you just might find something you have been looking for or just can't do without.

I Heart Macro - My Sister's Yard

It's Sunday again and that means another I Heart Macro Sunday.  I was at my Sister's house this weekend and this morning I went out and walked around her yard and these are the pictures I took.

Isn't this cool looking?  Can you guess what it is?  I'm not going to tell you just yet, I want you to ponder on it for a little while.

I thought that this was a very interesting flower pod and so I just had to shoot it.

My sister has this huge Gardenia bush outside of her front door and it is full of blooms that smell so nice.
I love this shot of the beautiful blue sky! "Sweet home Alabama where the skies are so blue"

I had to play so I chose sepia tone for this one.

Okay have you guessed what the first photo is?  Okay, okay I'll tell you!  It is a hickory log with moss growing on it.  To me this photo looks like a rock cliff with juniper bushes growing on it.

I hope that you enjoyed looking at my shots as much as I enjoyed taking them.  If you would like to view more I Heart Macro shots head on over to Lori's Studio Waterstone blog and check out what others are I Heart Macroing!
