I Heart Macro - Cat Tails

It is that time of week again for I Heart Macro!  Those of you that follow my blog and read my post on yesterday, know that I went to Wisconsin this past week.  I stayed in Oshkosh with a friend that was attending a training school.  Well out side of the motel was a marshy area where Cat Tails were growing and I knew that they were going to be my I Heart Macro for this Sunday.

I have always liked Cat Tails, the color and texture that feels and looks like velvet.

A Cat Tail releasing it's seeds.

These were also growing in the marshy area. I do not know what they are, but I thought they were cool looking.  Can someone tell me what they are?

Coming back from Brookfield, WI on Thursday I stopped at a rest area and took some picture of the country side.  I saw these and found them to be very interesting.  I like how they look and their texture.  Once again can someone tell me what these are?

This Squirrel is twice the size of the Squirrels in Alabama

What says Wisconsin more than a Dairy Farm, Huh?
Hey Judy, I finely saw some cows!

I hope that you enjoyed viewing my I Heart Macro shots as much as I enjoyed taking them.  If you want to see more macro shots head on over to Lori's Studio Waterstone blog and check out what the others are I Heart Macroing!

Happy beading Y'all,
Therese

  1. great shots Therese. The first picture you're asking about is called a Teasel and the other are Burrs.....we have them all over around here and when you walk in the woods you have to pick the little burrs off your clothes....don't wear fleece...

  5. Therese, I always enjoy seeing what sort of plants and flowers people feature with their macro shots. I haven't seen cat tails yet! What beautiful photos...I especially like the one of the seeds being released. I hope you had a nice trip to WI!

  9. Those prickly things are cool! That looks like a New England squirrel. Ours are huge with massive, fluffy tails. You are lucky the snow melts quickly where you are. We got hit again Saturday night with the white stuff! Someday I will retire down south. ~Val

  10. Ohhhh how cute is that squirrel! You know we don't really have them here in Australia so I don't think I have ever seen one... even in a zoo... same as skunks... but I am thinking that's not a bad thing!

  12. Great pictures as always Therese! When I was about 13 years old I was sledding down a narrow hill and inadvertently veered off head first into a burr bush (the second plant you asked about). I had very long hair at the time (operative word being "had") and trying to get those things out of my hair was maddening! Thanks for triggering my post traumatic stress with that pic! =D

  14. Love the cat tails I remeber playing with these when I was little! All that downy softness - I read somewhere this was used in place of diapers in the olden days! Hard to imagine but there is a useless fact for the day!
