Focusing on Life - Week 3 Time To Relax

Hi Y'all,

It is week three of Focusing on Life and this weeks prompt is a time to relax.   So here is how I relax.

After being here all day...

My co-worker Angle

I like to come home and do this...

My bead table set up for my next project She made/She made.

It is funny, but really to me working with seed beads is the best stress buster, besides sex, that I have found to do.  I am 53 and single, my son is 29 and on his own, so I really do not have anything else to do when I get home from work then bead for a little while.

Please go by Sally Russick blog and check out what she and everyone else participating in Focusing on Life does when they get a chance to relax.

Happy beading Y'all,
Therese

  1. Therese, I can only imagine the type of stress you face at work and what a welcome sight it must be to walk in to your studio space at night - and work with those seed beads! Your time alone sounds perfectly enjoyable to me!

  2. Whoa! Stress job for sure! Glad you have this creative outlet for relief...you certainly do have an eye for design!

  3. Oh WOW you DO have a bit of stress! I think I would have to roll naked in a bathtub full of beads before I could unwind!!!:D

  4. i can't imagine fiddling with lil beads is a stress reducer - i'd spill them all over the place and spend the evening picking them up...
but i'm glad you've found such a creative way to relax after work :)

  5. I imagine getting into the right side of your brain, being creative and focusing on those little beads would be a stress reducer and wouldn't leave room to rehash all the cares of the day. It must work because you make some beautiful pieces!

  6. I would have more stress if I tried to wrestle with seed beads - that it why I am so in awe of your gorgeous creations! I also cannot imagine having your job! It reminded me of years ago when my 2 year old niece, her mother, and a few friends were at my house for a visit. Sarah (my niece) was eating a cheeto and started to choke and good ol' Aunt Patti called 411. Thankfully, she was fine! Thanks for doing your day job - I could not!

  7. I'm with Patti on this one - the thought of seed beads gets me in a sweat but you do it with such consumate ease Therese and it's great that it acts as an antidote to your job.

  8. Looks like a stressful job! I can see why you would want to relax with your favorite seed beads, though it would work just the opposite for me with those tiny things.

  9. Hi Therese,

It's nice to see the non-beady side of our blog friends - great idea! And I agree that seed beading is a wonderful treat... can't say as much for wire work, which always seems to make me crazy! Hope you have lots of bead time in 2013!

  10. I love spending time with my beads as well. It is a nice break in the day. I loved seeing your desk as well. I cannot wait to see what you make with all that beady goodness.

  11. Wow - you do indeed need a 'de-streser' after all day of working where you do, that's for sure. You definitely have the patience and talent for those little seed beads,...they'd stress me out as much as your day job!! I smiled at your 'sex' comment, it was cute! Thank you for that little chuckle this morning!

  12. Holy Moly I can see why you need a de-stresser. Though if I had to work the seed beads my head would be pounding against the bead table! Love that this is the way you destress especially your wonderful creations!

  13. Therese, you definitely need a de-stresser! I can't imagine the calls you hear on a daily basis. I know everyone thinks about those little seed beads as the stress! :) I love those little beads and they ARE so relaxing! When stitching your hands fall into such a meditative rhythm! Perfect me time.

  14. Therese, thanks for the glimpse into your work world. I cannot imagine the stress you have when you are there. Beading, with a sex break....that would be just damn near nirvana. and a serious stress reducer!

  15. I definitely "get" your finding beading a stress reducer. I turned to my jewelry recently when my son went to Afghanistan and my husband was in the hospital, and my world was seriously messed up!

  17. OMG, that's an image: sex and seadbeads... darn... it never occurred to me before! Whipping my tears (of laugh) away, I can understand how bead weaving will be relaxing. I didn't before I tried it (thanks to you!) but now I totally get it.
    Have fun!

  18. Sex can be stressful at times, seedbeads also, I am not one to stitch them together. I can string them, but my eyes get so crossed when I try to focus on them.

  19. This is a great idea showing a bit of the other part of your life. This really must be a stressful job. And I can very much understand how the creativ use of seed beads can help you to relax. I feel the same when making my lampwork beads on the torch. It is truly almost like meditation.
    Happy relaxing,
    Sabine

  22. I love that creating is your stress reliever and what you do for taking time. And it's great that you have such a sense of humor after working such a stressful job!

  23. I'm with you Theresa. Beading is the best thing that I do for myself.

  24. TOo funny. I am in the seed beads may cause more stress camp... But that does not seem to keep me from buying them for some reason!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well as a runner up it doesn't look to bad... Actually since we are sharing pictures it's probably best that you went with your second choice! Bead-on!

  26. I so agree with you Therese, seed beads are so relaxing to me as well, I just love to see them come together and create beauty.

  30. Love the color palette!

I imagine you do stress at work...I'm so glad you bead and are in our world to share it.

  31. Oh, I can completely understand the creating as a way to explore time to yourself! Seed beads, though, that's a bit out of my comfort range, so I give you big ole kudos for doing it with those!

    ReplyDelete
  32. YES!! Seed beads are the most relaxing and meditative thing to do! (hahaha - you cracked me up with your 'besides sex' remark! lol - Therese - you are full of surprises!!!)

  33. What a tough job you have. But it's nice to know there's someone like you on the end of the line at a time of trouble. I'm gaining a new appreciation of seed beads seeing all the gorgeous work you do.

  34. Too funny...those little seed beads stress me out! Lol! Have a great week! Suzette

  35. First I have to say THANK YOU for doing all you do in your job to ensure the safety of others! I love the idea that sex is second only to beads as a stress buster! I laughed out loud at that! And you make such amazing things, wrangling those little beads into submission! Hurts my head and eyes just thinking about it. Enjoy the day. Erin

  36. I also find working with seed beads, especially in bead embroidery and find it very meditative.

  37. There is something so stress relieving in creating. Sex is not always an option so having this to turn to is perfect! My boyfriend beads strands on occasion with me so he understands why I enjoy it. Although he would rather get it on I am sure! LOL

  38. Girl, you just cracked me up BIG TIME. I never thought I'd see on your blog that sex is the best stress reducer. Never! HA! And to top that off, your co-worker Angle looks amused that you're taking her picture and that made me smile.
I'm so happy that the beading is your stress reducer (or next best) because that means I get to see lots more of your beautiful creations :)
