Happy Beads Blog Hop

 Hey Y’all,

I know it’s been a while since I’ve written a blog post, but life takes so many twists and turns and Facebook is just easier, so onto why I’m here.

Lisa Lodge of A Grateful Artist put out the call for anyone that wanted to do a blog hop challenge, and of course I was in, because I love a challenge, especially if it involves beads.  Lisa offered two different bead kits to choose from, purple or blue. I chose purple, not because it was my favorite color, because it’s not, and there in is part of the challenge working with a color that I’m not that fond of.

My purple kit

Lisa gave us plenty of time to create pieces from the kit, but I’m an procrastinator always thinking I have time. I did play around with the beads, but they just weren’t talking to me except to whisper seed beads.

So I started looking in my stash of beading tutorials for something that the beads in this kit would work with, and I came across a tutorial for a netted necklace designed by Cathy Andrews of Andrea Catherine Jewelry, LLC titled Queen Elizabeth.

I used the 8mm silver glass pearls from the kit, Toho size 11/0 seed beads per a finish pale lilac, and clear AB 3 mm bicone crystals.

The second piece I did, well still doing, is a netted ornament.

I used the 4 mm fire polished Czech beads and the pear shaped glass pearls from the kit. The seed beads are Toho 11/0 hybrid oxidized bronze purple and Toho 15/0 galvanized gold. I have to finish sewing the pearls on and then it can go on my tree.

Then in the last minute I made a very simple necklace and earrings.

I used the purple string and strung on the 16mm clear AB glass beads and the clear AB 8mm Chinese crystals in between the 16mm’s. I took a short piece of the string and strung it through the clear AB square beads tied a knot and then strung the string through a loop in an earring tear drop shape, tied another knot added the ear hooks from the kit.

Well that’s all I have to show you for this blog hop. I hope you like what I’ve done. If you do please leave a comment. Then go and visit what the others in this blog hop have created with their kit.

Thank you Lisa for inviting me to play along in the blog hop. Thank you to all that stops by my blog.
